Free charity money for running races?

Most of you know that I am running my first marathon at the Marine Corps Marathon this October!

I am also using I Race for a Cause (IR4C.com) to raise money for the Little Things for Cancer!

I've gotten some questions on how the site works exactly, and wanted to do a post to share how awesome the concept is and why you should create a FREE profile!

In a nutshell: IR4C goes out and gets corporate sponsors. There's no need to be a fast, largely known, celeb athlete. Just enjoy racing - triathlon, running race, etc. - and you can earn money through them for each race you do. These companies will pledge you money that turns over to your charity of choice once your race is over! Easy!

IR4C also allows you to raise money from your network of friends and family year round, and for whatever 501(c)(3) non-profit you wish. For those of you who have taken on the daunting task of raising money for a cause, you know how tough it is to get everybody in before the deadline. At IR4C you are no longer up against any deadline and not tied to one event or even one specific charity. Your Billboard is yours to use and run campaigns whenever and however you want.

Running in the local 5K and want to raise money for cancer? No problem. Entering an ultra-cycling event or adventure race? No problem. You determine when you fundraise, what you fundraise for, and when you cash out. And unlike other platforms, we never take a cut of your donations. IR4C is about you, and about your philanthropy.

We believe we are on to something ground-breaking, and this is just the beginning. Be a part of it at www.IR4C.com. Sign up today, train hard, and continue to do what you do, just do it better!

Helping at the Gasparilla expo with the IR4C guys - they're super fun!

Visit IR4C + like on Facebook + follow on Twitter!

*p.s. I am the Twitter-bot behind the IR4C page, so feel free to ask me any questions about the site, pledge donors, corporate sponsors, how to change your profile, etc.! If I don't know the answer, I'll be sure to find it!

Get updates on sponsor pledges and locations they'll be at for race expos to answer questions and give out pledge money!

Look out soon for a GIVEAWAY I'll be doing where IR4C has agreed to reward one of my readers with a $25 charity pledge!

And there's a winner for the Go Go Squeez giveaway!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Yay Mindy, congrats!

  12. I have some research to do, this looks like a great way to raise money for our charity of choice. I'm running 13 5Ks in 2013 for the Eastern North Carolina chapter of Alzheimer's Association. Check my story out on my blog rifflewader.wordpress.com if you have time.

  13. I will have to look into this. I really want to run NYC as a charity runner. However, I am a poor teacher and all my friends are broke girls too. Had no idea how I might raise money.

  16. I am for sure going to check this out! It seems like a great way to continute to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society without the huge commitment of doing a run through TNT. As a two time alumni I love the cause and hope this will help me to keep contirbuting. Heading to the IR4C site now ;)
