Day 3 means Work it! Join me on Instagram for the #HOLIDAYADAY Challenge!
So, we all know the mission is still to complete 6 halfs in 6 months - Half Fanatic here I come! I've posted about my change in plans since I decided on playing it smart, last minute, I changed my mind to give me 3 instead of 2 weeks between the Women's Half and my December Half. That initial second half was to be the Brandon Half, but is now the Holiday Halfathon! The Brandon Half was put on by my local running group Sunday, the Brandon Running Association - sidenote: these guys are the most supportive group of peeps ever who run with me regularly!
Living close to the course, Hubs and I created a Cheer/Water station to see my peeps do their thang and push them as best we could. Pre-race, after our Saturday long run, I received requests of gels and snacks (pop tarts?) that my running buds wanted on the route. I did my best to deliver. Here's some photo collages of an awesome day!
You can remember Kris as my run angel a.k.a. pacer for the Women's Half who's also a great friend of mine. I couldn't hang with her on this day though....she was shooting for a half PR! I cheered her on the course...along with Beks, her bf Mike, Brad, Brandon Running buds alike...and we drove to the finish so I could run her in....she got about a 2 minute PR! Super proud of this girl!
Sorry pop tart/Caribbean Steve, I cut your head off. I kept it gangsta with Brad..and Tim borrowed by headband.
I had a blast yelling...cheering...seeing my pals kick butt on a hot....around 71 at the finish..day!
I'm flying to lovely Chicago today!
Have you enjoyed spectating a race vs running one yet?Any Chicago recommendations?

(RUNS TO SNAG HER SOME RED)
ReplyDeleteGood thing you caught that! I had the wrong day on there! What are you doing up?! ;)
DeleteI love spectators! Especially LOUD spectators! So fun and a great motivator!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Chicago. Awesome city!
Haha I was definitely loud!
Deletehere and support us! So awesome of you. I'm glad we got to ham it up together multiple times this week!
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
DeleteYou looked so cute in your matching skirt and socks. Great that you could support your friends/running buds along the course. Good luck next week at your race! SPA <3
ReplyDeleteThanks so much ladies!
Deleteyoure so adorable! what a fabulous friend to go and spectate! i am sure you were the best cheerleader there!! have a super day, kat! xxoo
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenna! ;)
DeleteOh my gosh. Run on the Lakeshore. It's amazing. And eat at Lou Malnati's Pizza. And of course you have to see the bean. If you can get in a long run (or want to), you can run from downtown up to Wrigleyville and see Wrigley Field. Walk around Millenium Park. Eat at the top of the Hancock Building (there's a restaurant that's good and pretty inexpensive and you don't have to pay to go up and you still get the view). Don't waste your time on Navy Pier; it's a tourist trap. Take the Architecture Society's Boat Tour of the River. I've done it three times and they've all been different/I've loved it every time. I love that city. Have a ball!! What are you going for?! And awesome job spectating. Love your sparkle skirt. Can't wait for this weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe went there to the Signature room today! Awesome views and food! Had a fab beet salad! Hoping I can run tomorrow with all the work hub bub going on ;) me too thanks!

ReplyDeleteAnytime! Xoxo
DeleteThanks for being there to cheer us on Kat. You are the best support crew ever. Have a great time in Chicago. I grew up there and still love to go home, of course not in the winter, but it is still pretty cool. Walking down State St after they have decorated for Xmas is a site to see. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt was the funnest day! Had a great time at the Hancock observatory today!
DeleteI am support crew at races very frequently. Like once a month. I like to smile and be loud :) Cowbells are great!
ReplyDeleteOne of my Chicago recommendations: http://flattopgrill.com/locations.html
If you go to the museum of science and industry, you can walk to http://www.medici57.com. They have a little bakery/deli and next door is a sit-down restaurant.
Also, wear layers!
It's hot here!..in the sixties! Wishing I had more than 2 days but ill be back!
DeleteSpectators are so, so important. I haven't yet, but I think that's because I'm only just starting to run with others. Friends like you are the BEST
ReplyDeleteIt made for the best day! :)
DeleteI've loving the #HolidayaDay challenge! I've needed to step up my Instagram game, and this has given me the push!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it the funnest?!
DeleteYep, I've been a spectator and loved it! My first two races I thought to myself how amazing it was for people to come out and cheer. It totally pumps you up! :)
