let me tell you a little diddy about my impromptu workout Monday, shall I?
Crossfit...almost like Crossboot...the ultimate circuit training strength workout...also the class I swore off the last time I went. No offense to it, seriously, it was awesome. I just wasn't at the "level" or at my "peak performance" I needed to be at to be 'successful' in that class... after 90 minutes I needed a stretcher breather!
Enter: Max-conditioning Crossfit class at the Progressive gym (aka Monday's workout). I've been seeing this on our bulletin board for the past month and kept thinking "nah, me on think so, not for me"
I woke up Monday morning feeling kind of tired, so I decided to workout on my lunch break vs. before work like usual. I remembered this class was at 2 and figured that'd work out well with my meetings & such going on in the day. And the Crossfit Games were all over my Twitter feed so what the hey, huh?

I ended up being the only member to attend, WTH?! (2pm isn't a 'prime' lunch time for everyone) So, I geared up with all of the interns (yea, lovely to be the only fitness center member with all of the PTs/interns in the class, way to make me stand out.
BUT it ended up being a great class! I mean, for real-for real. Thirty minutes of an awesome butt-whoopin' that included arms, legs, cardio - nothing is better than a packed workout that doesn't take a lot of time!
Our instructor Mallory, was very sweet...or so I thought...until she whooped it on us!...but she's still sweet (she just got engaged the day before, yay her!)
Here's the workout we did:
50 - dumbell squats
40 - shoulder presses
30 - box jumps (on the step)
20 - pushups
10 - burpees
We then repeated the same workout backwards (after burpees, 20 pushups and so on)
Oh yea, squats?! Imma SQUEEZE my buns!
After that, we did 4 minutes of abs but with 30 seconds of work and 20 seconds of rest (6 rounds.)
I had to go back to work after that?! Thank goodness I didn't sweat my pretty lil eyebrows off ;)
Tuesday's workout: 5 mi run with Beks & P-funk
I forewarned them that I was going to be slow after my gajillion squat workout (yes, I keep increasing the number for affect)

Shew! Hence why today, before work, I lounge in these bad boys while I make whole wheat biscuits and muffins :)

ReplyDeleteI will try crossfit. Soon. I tried step last week for the first time. I enjoyed it a lot!
ReplyDeleteSuch an awesome workout! I definitely like the quick-circuit and HIIT workouts!...anything over 45 min though and I'm sure I wouldn't be walking today ;)
